  • Michael G. Hagerty, B.A. (Hons) (Oxon)Mike-Hagerty-Web

    Mike is an Oxford Graduate who specialises in Higher Court Proceedings and is qualified to appear in all criminal Courts from the Magistrates Court, to the Crown Court and through to the Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court.  
    His main area of specialism is in the Crown Court where he represents clients at all levels of proceedings.  Although he has considerable experience in dealing with the most serious of allegations he can also be found in the Magistrates Court and the Police Station. 
    Mike has been part of the Police Station and Court Duty Solicitor scheme since it began in 1986.

    Steve has many years of experience of all types of Personal Injury work, including Accidents at Work, Road Traffic Accidents and Tripping Accidents.

    His main area of specialism is in Large (Multi Track) Personal Injury Claims where his experience, expertise and dedication are crucial in obtaining maximum levels of compensation for his clients.

    Steve also has a keen interest and experience in advising our Commercial Clients in regard to Employment Law.

  • Jennifer L. Kirby (née Anderson), LL.B. (Hons)Jenni-Kirby-Web

    Jennifer graduated in law at Birmingham University and then went on to complete the Legal Practice Course at the College of Law in Chester where she achieved the national Law Society award for outstanding achievement in Private Client. She then joined the firm as a trainee solicitor and is now the Head of the Probate Department.

    Jennifer has considerable experience dealing with all aspects of Private Client work including Wills, Probate, Court of Protection, Lasting Powers of Attorney and the Administration of Trusts and also periodically gives talks on these areas to local community groups. Jennifer is committed to providing a friendly, personal service and is happy to offer appointments to clients either in the office or at their home.

    Simon is the great-grandson of one of the founding partners, Sir Samuel Brighouse.  He has over 35 years experience starting in 1978, initially as a trainee Legal Executive and qualifying as a Solicitor in 1993. 

    Simon deals with all aspects of Family Law including Divorce, Separation and the 
    Financial aspects on Relationship Breakdowns. He also deals with any issues arising regarding the arrangements for Children.   Simon can also deal with some elements of Private Client Work including Wills & Lasting Powers of Attorney.

    Simon will represent you throughout your case, including representation in Court, ensuring continuity and stability. He is committed to providing a caring and personal service in what can be a difficult and stressful time.

    Michael graduated in Law at Liverpool Polytechnic in 1991 and completed the Solicitors Final examinations at the College of Law in Chester in 1992. He completed his training as a Solicitor in Liverpool and thereafter worked for a number of firms in Liverpool, Kirkby and Huyton and has been based in Skelmersdale since 2001. He joined the firm in 2006. Michael qualified as a Duty Solicitor in 1998 and currently heads the Magistrates Department.

    Michael has considerable experience dealing with all aspects of Criminal Litigation including representation of individuals at the Police Station, representation of individuals charged with criminal offences in the Magistrates Court and recently has commenced to represent individuals in the Crown Court. Michael is committed to providing a friendly personal service to his clients and is well known and respected in the locality which is evidenced by his continued repeat instructions from clients.

    Debra Graduated in law at Liverpool John Moores University and then went on to complete the Legal Practice Course part time at Liverpool John Moores University whilst working full time at a firm of Solicitors in Liverpool. Debra went on to join another firm of Solicitors in Liverpool as Trainee Solicitor where she qualified in 2008. 

    Debra has considerable experience in all property matters including Transfers of Equity, Right to Buys and Equitable Release Mortgages. 

    Debra is committed to providing a friendly, personal service and is happy to see clients often without having an appointment.

    Jeanette graduated law in Liverpool and then went on to complete the Legal Practice Course at the College of Law in Chester. Jeanette joined Brighouse Wolff in 1988. Jeanette specialises in Family Law. Her main areas of expertise are in relation to the breakdown of relationships and the difficulties that partners and parents encounter financially, in relation to children, and where Injunctions and Occupation Orders are necessary including representation at Court.

    In circumstances where Legal Aid is available for family work, both the Maghull and Skelmersdale offices can offer this service.

    Jeanette works from both the Maghull and Skelmersdale offices and is available to offer appointments at unsocial hours and to engage in home appointments. Jeanette offers a caring and valued service in the local community serving Maghull, Lydiate, Aughton, Burscough, Aintree, Netherton, Kirkby and Skelmersdale areas amongst others.

    Christine trained with the firm of Cuff Roberts in Liverpool, qualifying in 1980. She remained with that firm ultimately becoming a Partner specialising in the field of Litigation. Her busy life in private practice was complimented by her involvement locally as a Governor of Ormskirk Grammar School (subsequently Ormskirk School) for over 21 years, and as Non-Executive Director of the local NHS Hospital Trust, a role that she ultimately fulfilled for over 17 years. 

    Following a career break Christine returned to practice, initially in the voluntary sector as a Solicitor for Merseyside Welfare Rights then returning to Private Practice with a work emphasis on Non-Contentious Matters. 

    Christine joined Brighouse Wolff in 2006 and is now responsible for the Firm’s Office in Sandy Lane, Skelmersdale where she undertakes Private Client work including Property Matters, Wills, Probate and Administration, Lasting Powers of Attorney and Court of Protection Matters, Commerical Property Matters and Small Business Matters.

    Christine is retained by the Peter Lathom Charity to act as Clerk to the Charity.

    Jenny is a solicitor and graduated from the University of Keele with a degree in Geography and Geology.  Jenny completed her legal professional qualifications at The College of Law, Chester and trained with a Liverpool practice.  Upon qualification Jenny joined a national firm of solicitors working in both Liverpool and Preston dealing with property matters.

    Jenny specialises in sales and purchases of residential and commercial property, commercial landlord and tenant matters, re-mortgages of residential and commercial property and equity release mortgages.

    Andrew is a graduate of Leicester University, completed Law Society finals at Chester and was admitted as a Solicitor on 1 April 1981.

    He worked for over 25 years in the Wigan area before branching out to Bolton, New Forest and Manchester.

    He is a Past President of Wigan Law Society. He has considerable experience in sales and purchases of residential and commercial property; site acquisitions and disposals; site set up; plot sales; business leases for landlord or tenant; sales and purchases of businesses including chemists, shops, newsagents and general stores.

    When working in the New Forest area he assisted a prominent local NHBC builder achieve their best ever year plot sales.

    Jennie obtained a First Class Honours Degree in Law at Chester University and then went on to complete the Legal Practice Course at the College of Law Chester where she was awarded a number of National awards for outstanding achievement.

    She joined the firm as a trainee Solicitor in 2010 having previously worked as a paralegal at a firm of solicitors in Manchester. Jennie has experience in a number of areas enabling her to give clients comprehensive advice in matters including Wills, Probate and Powers of Attorney.

    Claire qualified as a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives In June 1999. Claire joined Brighouse Wolff in 1996 having worked previously for the Liverpool Family Proceedings Court.

    Claire has over 16 years experience in Family Law including Divorce, Separation, Finances, Injunctions, Contact and Residence. Claire also specialises in cases where Social Services are involved and regularly acts for parents who are involved with Social Services and where Care proceedings have been issued or children removed from their parents.

    Claire is commited to providing a professional, friendly and personal service to all clients and is happy to offer appointments at either of our offices at Skelmersdale, Ormskirk and Maghull.
